About Philip Eastwood

A multidisciplinary artist, designer and creative - also a senior lecturer at the University of Lincoln. Paintings, collages, photographs, prints, handmade publications, sculptures, sonic art, site specific time based installations, short films and live art performances have been exhibited in the USA, Holland, Germany, Spain, Cyprus, and throughout the UK. Author of the paper ‘Invisible Labour: Process in art and design’, published by Beehive Press, 2005. Designed and delivered guest lectures and masterclasses in visual communication at the University of Northampton, University of Wolverhampton, Anhalt University in Dessau, Germany, Sint Lucas College in Boxtel, Netherlands and the University of Girona in Catalonia, Spain. Maintains a professional art practice, independent studio and artist’s press publishing Post Merz Post Haste magazine - also writes and records music. More than twenty years experience teaching, external examining, writing undergraduate awards and sitting on external validation panels for a number of universities in the UK and Europe. Lectures across a range of specialist modules on BA HONS Illustration. Specific Research Interests: • The impact of post-haste design principals upon the communication process. • The evolution and identification of a classifiable aesthetics of propaganda and protest. • Underground, counter-culture, beat, punk, indie and artist's publications including: pamphlets, zines, magazines and books. • Situationist International, culture jamming and media disruption in the Post Truth era. • Collage: The deconstruction and reconfiguration of new and existing elements in the production of original imagery, sound and music.
