About Jun Yao

Dr Jun Yao has gained extensive research experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to solve industrial related complex flow problems.  She has previously worked as a research engineer in Mitsubishi Electric R&D Research Centre Europe B.V. (MERCE - UK). Dr Yao was appointed specifically to develop the numeric method for pipe flow analysis in renewable energy system. During her research career, Dr Yao has gained a broad research interests in both science and engineering disciplinary via participating a number of EPSRC and industry funded projects. Her primarily research interest is connected to CFD study of multiphase flow in turbocharger and heat exchanger system, involving flow heat transfer with phase change, nozzle injection to optimise flow pattern distribution and particle tracking. Recently, she has also developed her research interests in CFD study of turbine blade cooling and electronic device cooling with conjugate heat transfer. Dr Yao has gained experience to study hydrogen dynaimcs in fuel cell with nano -particle metal as catalysts using electrochemical cyclic voltammety (CV) and the Extended X-Ray Adsorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) Methodologies. Dr Yao’s other research interest includes (i) experimental and numerical study of the flame dynamics and instability during combustion (ii) solar thermal system study with using novel materials.
