About Maria Karaolides

Maria is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture and the Built Environment, College of Arts. She is also a practicing architect at Karaolides Szynalska Architects. Maria studied up to Masters level at the University of Sheffield, and she gained her professional architectural qualifications at the University of Lincoln. Between 2001-2008 she worked at UL Architects (now Stem Architects), a multi-disciplinary award winning architectural practice owned by the University of Lincoln. Whilst there she worked on several award-winning projects for the Brayford Pool Campus including the GCW University Library, the Engine Shed Student Union, and the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre. As an architect at Mouchel and KIER (2008-2017) she worked on a number of complex education facilities for Lincolnshire County Council; including the Warren Wood Community School – a SEN centre of excellence. Maria is a Chartered Architect and an accredited RIBA Client Adviser. She is also a visiting lecturer at the Sheffield Hallam University and Lincoln College.
