About Bashir Al-Diri

Dr. Bashir Al-Diri Bashir joined the Lincoln School of Computer Science at the University of Lincoln in 2009. His main research is concerned with the development of computer vision algorithms to analyse retinal blood vessels for characterization of diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Al-Diri developed a robust fully automated system for retinal vascular segmentation and measurement, which provides a unique combination of good segmentation and superior measurement performance. It is thus uniquely well-suited to act as a base for research into the diagnosis of vascular diseases that cause measurable changes to the geometry of retinal vessels. Dr. Al-Diri research includes computer vision, medical image analysis, automated surveillance, artificial intelligence, speech recognition, language corpus and lexical analysis, and applications of active contour models.

Al-Diri is the editor-in-chief of the “International Journal of Advances in Computer Science and its Applications - IJCSIA” journal. Al-Diri was an organizing committee member for 2nd International Conference on Integrative Biology Summit. August 04-05, 2014 Chicago, USA; and he was invited speaker at the “3rd International Conference on Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology” (Ophthalmology-2013) on April 15-17, 2013; held at Hilton Chicago/Northbrook, USA; hosted by OMICS Group Conferences. Al-Diri has reviewed grants (EPSRC and Action Medical Research for children) and papers in various international Journals (CMIG, CBM, TMI, TBE, JCSB, PLoS ONE, …) and conferences (SPIE, ICIAR , MICCAI, EMBC, WCE, …).
