Ashiqur's research interest lies in healthcare following western medicine in practice, computer-aided diagnosis modelling, computer vision and machine learning techniques. He is a multi-disciplinary researcher working in the field of computer science and medical science, and associated with Computational Intelligent Laboratory (CIL) and Lincoln Centre for Autonomous System (L-CAS) research groups.

Ashiqur is an Ambassador for the School of Computer Science and organises various events related to Data Science across the United Kingdom. Previously, he worked as a Software Engineer (Web) and Data Analyst at the London Metropolitan University, London, UK.
Ashiqur mentors one undergraduate and one postgraduate research student at the University of Kent under Kew-Net mentoring scheme. He organised many high profile technical events for students in collaboration with Apple Inc., Intel Corporation, Google, HSBC and IET.
