Alex works full time as a programme leader and lecturer on the Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Lincoln. Alex is currently studying for a PhD at the University of Lincoln, the current working title of his thesis is “What is the context of entrepreneurship: an investigation into the field of entrepreneurship in a region”. This piece of research will contextualise a regional area in relation to the influences on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intent in that area using an institutional view combined with Bourdieu’s theory of practice. The life experiences of a number of entrepreneurs in that region will be examined to determine the key themes that may have led them to make the decision to start their own business. Alex achieved the award of best paper at Doctoral level, at the European Academy of Management conference held at Strathclyde University in 2017.
