About Viet-Hai Phung

Prior to joining the School of Health and Social Care, I worked as a Research Associate for six and a half years at the Centre for Research in Social Policy at Loughborough University. I have nine years’ experience of undertaking applied research across a range of public policy areas, such as social policy, community safety and housing, for public and voluntary sector evaluations. I have a range of quantitative and qualitative research skills, as well as extensive experience of undertaking literature reviews and publishing for a range of audiences, including peer-reviewed journals and policy practitioners. I have undertaken research on prehospital care, especially around equality and diversity. I have presented my work at a number of regional, national and international conferences.

Department Responsibilities

I joined the School of Health and Social Care as a Research Assistant in September 2011. I undertook systematic literature reviews in a project entitled ‘Pre-hospital Outcomes for Evidence-Based Evaluation (PHOEBE). I was involved in the Improving Primary Care Resources for Effective Sleep Treatment (IPCREST) project, which explored new ways of treating insomnia and the Ambulance Service Cardiovascular Quality Initiative (ASCQI) project, which looks at quality improvement in the treatment of heart attacks and strokes. I have undertaken a study on the effectiveness of Community First Responders in delivering prehospital care, from which I have published two papers and presented the findings at regional, national and international conferences. Alongside my current responsibilities, I am progressing with my PhD, which aims to understand the experiences and perceptions of Eastern European migrants of using ambulance care in Lincolnshire.
