Sharon joined the University originally in 2003 as a Lecturer after 15 years of experience in the food manufacturing and farming industries where she held Group Technical Management level roles within the meat industry. Sharon has an extensive knowledge of food related qualifications, apprenticeship delivery and quality monitoring systems (vocational short courses, bespoke qualifications and accredited academic qualifications). As Deputy Head (Apprenticeships and Business Partnerships), Sharon directs strategic employer partnerships where a ‘can do’ collective mentality ensures flexibility and responsiveness to employer needs across further and higher educational programmes. This encompasses all levels of apprenticeships (including Higher and Degree Apprenticeships), vocational industry relevant short courses and Adult Education Funded provision. Sharon also steers professional activities including advising on changes in policy and best practice for a range of awarding organisations.
