About Jan Gordon
Jan has been associated with the University throughout all its various guises. She studied Applied Social Science at the Hull campus when the institution was a College of Higher Education, and graduated the year it became a Polytechnic. She then went to Sheffield to do her MA in Socio- Legal Studies. She spent the following five years working part time at the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, and at the University of Hull Law Department, teaching various socio-legal units. She was appointed full time in 1997, and was promoted to senior lecturer in 1999.
Jan contributes to a number of modules on the Criminology degree. She is the module coordinator for the Level 3 modules Harm, Agency and Regulation; Criminological Project and Penology and Penal Policy. Jan also teaches on the Health and Social Care module Criminology and Social Justice.
Jan has undertaken research on Miscarriages of Justice, with particular reference to notions of justice, which she uses to inform her teaching on all of her modules.
As an ex-player, and now passionate spectator, Jan is a big rugby league fan. She also enjoys spending time with dogs and dining/drinking with friends.
