About Heather Saunders
Heather Saunders is the Placement Co-ordinator for the students who are studying on their social work programme. Heather develops, trains and supports practice placements across the whole of the social care sector in order to provide appropriate practice placements. Heather also supports and trains the practice educators who are based in the practice settings.
Working with the students directly, she is involved in the preperation for practice and works closely with the students to ensure they are matched to an appropriate practice based setting.
Heather is a qualified social worker, and has worked in numerous child care settings, both pre and post qualification, to include residential. community based safeguarding, and community based mental health. Heather has a particular interset in the impact of early child hood attachment and trauma on childrens’ emotional, behavioural and mental health.
Heather has also taught on the ‘Post Graduate Award’ in social work at Nottingham Trent University and a number of the social care programmes based at Bishop Grosseteste.
Heather is also a qualified practice teacher and has supported and assessed many students when in practice.
