About Heriberto Cuayahuitl Portilla

Heriberto Cuayáhuitl is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science in the College of Science at the University of Lincoln, fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), and member of the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (L-CAS). He received a PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 2009, and has an international research profile in academia and industry in the discipline of machine intelligence including (spoken) dialogue systems, (deep) machine learning, and (multimodal) robotics. He has published over 70 research papers in these areas, has been led organiser of the international workshop on Machine Learning for Interactive Systems (MLIS), and guest editor of the journals ACM Transactions on Interactive Intelligent Systems, and Elsevier Computer Speech and Language. His work in industry has been carried out at SpeechWorks International Inc. (now Nuance Communications Inc.), the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), and Samsung Research.

Heriberto has been on sabbatical at Samsung Research in Seoul, South Korea.
