About Fouad El Baidouri

My research interests focus mainly on the evolution of prokaryotes and protozoan using phylogenetic approaches.  I earned my PhD in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Montpellier 1 in France in 2012. This PhD work with Dr. Christophe Ravel and Prof. Pierre Marty, focused on studying the genetic structure and the evolutionary mechanisms of the protozoan parasites from the Leishmania genus in Africa and Eurasia. Currently I am working with Prof. Stuart Humphries in the Physical Ecology Lab to understand how prokaryotic shape, motility and other phenotypic characters have evolved using phylogenetic comparative methods and comparative genomics.
