Dylan started broadcasting as a hospital radio volunteer before leaving his job in engineering to study at university. He worked for a while at Central TV in Nottingham and was once told to go and investigate a rumour that the former Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough had died. Finding no evidence in his local pub Dylan decided the best option was to knock on the great man’s front door. The door opened and Brian Clough greeted him with his famous phrase “now then young man”. Well how would you get out of that one? He did though spend most of his broadcast career in radio, working for the BBC. Starting in news he moved onto programme production, working on outside broadcasts and finally presented the Early Breakfast Show which was broadcast throughout the East Midlands. Since moving to The University of Lincoln Dylan has worked in media production and journalism.
