    About Caroline Edwards

    I’m Lecturer in English and carry out research, teaching and graduate supervision in the Department of English in 20th and 21st-century fiction, utopianism, critical theory, Marxist aesthetics, science fiction, post-apocalyptic narratives, women’s writing and modernism. Previously I have held posts researching and teaching at the University of Surrey and the University of Nottingham (where I was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council). In 2012 I co-organised 2 conferences for the publisher Gylphi (on China Miéville and Maggie Gee), in collaboration with the University of St Andrews and Birkbeck, University of London, and I am currently co-organising a conference on British SF novelist Adam Roberts with Christos Callow Jr at the University of Lincoln in April 2013.

    I am Founding and Commissioning Editor of the open access journal of literary criticism Alluvium.

    Department Responsibilities

    I lecture and teach at Levels 1, 2 and 3 on the undergraduate programme in English, as well as on the MA in 21st-Century Literature and supervise research at PhD level. I am also Admissions Tutor for the department.

    I currently supervise 2 PhD students working on The Dystopian Short Story and The Female Grotesque Body in Literature of the Fin de Siècle. If you are interested in applying for a PhD in 21st-century literature, science fiction or utopian literature and theory please do get in touch.
