About Adam Coussens

In August 2015, I completed my PhD at the University of Exeter titled ‘Examining the antecedents of social support and performance. Applying generalisability theory’. From Sep 2014 -  Jan 2015, I was employed as a Visiting Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Roehampton, leading Masters level Sport and Exercise Psychology modules. Whilst completing my PhD I was employed as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Exeter teaching on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Research Methods and Analytical Procedures modules. I have previously completed a BSc (Hons) in Geography and Sport Studies, and an MSc (BPS accredited) in Sport and Exercise Psychology, at Northumbria University. I have also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University. Following the completion of my PhD I accepted the position of Lecturer in Sport Psychology at the University of Lincoln.

Department Responsibilities

I am responsible for delivering teaching on Sport Psychology and Research Methods modules across both the SES and SDC degree programmes. I also supervise dissertation projects for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

I have previously worked with Exeter City Football Club in providing psychological skills training and conducting needs analyses for a range of different academy teams.  I have also worked alongside Sporting Stars, at the University of Exeter, introducing school children to the importance of science and sport psychology.
