About Gary Stevens

Gary Stevens was a member of the full-time and then casual staff of the BBC for more than 20 years. He has worked on all aspects of radio production and presentation - including assignments on special educational projects for BBC World Service in Beijing and Cairo. Gary continues to maintain and update his own professional radio skills, and has worked on a number of educational projects with a former BBC colleague and the British Council. He has presented four series of radio programmes for the British Council on Teacher Development for educators in resource-poor contexts. Gary is undertaking doctoral studies with the University of Lincoln’s School of Education, focusing on the broad topic of training science journalists and communicators.

Department Responsibilities

I am the programme leader for the MA Journalism and the MA Science and Environmental Journalism, and was part of the small team that brought the School’s suite of MA journalism programmes to validation. I teach on modules at all levels including radio and mulitplatform news production, science communication and dissertation supervision. I have taken on a number of administrative roles in the School, including timetabling.
